ACCESSIBILITY

Estuary and all of our artists are committed to the truth that tattoos are for everyone. We reject the notion that tattoos are only beautiful or possible on specific skin tones, sizes, or genders.

If you are concerned or unsure about how something will look on you - talk to your artist! We’re committed to designing something beautiful together that you’ll love.

• We are a 5-minute walk off the Morgan L stop, or there is room for a car to pull up directly in front of the building and drop you off.

• Our building entry, elevator, and bathroom are all ADA compliant.

  • If you’d like photos of any part of the studio in advance to gauge your comfort level & ask questions, please let us know.

• We use standard folding massage tables, pillows, and have step stools in each station.

• Estuary no longer requires universal masking in the studio. If you would feel more comfortable with a masked appointment, please let your tattooer know! We are completely prepared and happy to ensure a non-judgmental masked studio experience when asked.

• We are an open-format one-room studio, with a maximum occupancy of 8 tattooers and 8 clients at one time, in roughly 2,000 square feet.

• We keep kn95 masks on hand for anyone who wants one.

• We use a HEPA-filter air purifier to turn over the air in the studio several times an hour.

• Our tables are weight rated between 500 - 1200 pounds depending on your artist.

• Our folding chairs are weight-rated to 300 pounds.

• Our step stools are weight-rated to 350 pounds.

• If you have questions or need different furniture, please check in with your artist!

SCENTS

• We occasionally burn low-smoke incense. Shop policy is to check with each client/tattooer first before doing so.

• We use industry-standard cleaning products that have a range of scents.

SOUNDS

• We play music at low to medium volumes.

• On cold/hot days the heating vent/AC creates steady white noise.

• There are often several overlapping conversations and ambient noise.

• Some of our artists use quiet tattoo machines, others make noise.

LIGHT

• The room is brightly lit from a variety of fixtures and natural lighting.

• Clients often lay under bright work lights while getting tattooed.

• We are a one-room, open format studio with a maximum of 16 people (8 tattooers, 8 clients) at any given time. More typically we have about 6-8 people total in at a time.

• At your request we can put up room dividers for comfort and privacy.

  • This is something we always offer for intimate placements where someone might be undressed, but anyone can request this regardless of placement if it would be more comfortable. Often we will not automatically offer a screen if your placement does not seem intimate, so please request one if you’d prefer it. It’s easy to set up and we don’t mind at all.

• Quiet Appointments - All of our tattooers are comfortable working quietly if you’d prefer to not make small talk. Just let us know.

Many of our artists offer some version of sliding scale. if getting tattooed is outside your financial range - check in with your artist and see if accommodations can me made!
